The Coffee Crew

Alex was born and raised in the boondocks of northern Ohio but, after high school, moved down to Kentucky to major in Media Communications at Asbury University. Post grad, she married the studliest stud there ever was - Andrew Canada - and they moved to downtown Lexington. Alex is one of the biggest extroverts you’ll ever meet and she loves getting to know people and making new friends. When she’s not making exceptional drinks at ‘The Cup,’ Alex is most likely travelling or road tripping with the hubs, filming a wedding, playing various instruments, or kicking butt in Mario Kart. Alex is also obsessed with oreos, fake mustaches, and Christmas.

Zach emerged triumphantly from the bowels of Letcher County in the southeastern corner of Kentucky. He's currently working towards a degree in Math Econ at the University of Kentucky. When he’s not trying his best to make sweet latte art and repping for Magic Beans Coffee Roasters, he’s probably reading his comics, playing soccer or picking on his guitar. His favorite bands include Led Zeppelin, the Avett Brothers, and the Black Keys. He also enjoys doing theater and has been in multiple musicals.

Before she moved to Lexington to attend the University of Kentucky, Allison was born and raised in the lovely city of Union, up in good ole NKY. Her talents include having really large hair, making ugly faces, and dipping food in buffalo sauce. When not making yummy coffee dranks, she’s most likely studying something related to communication disorders, watching New Girl, or baking cookies for no apparent reason.

Shivani was born in ATL but grew up the majority of her life in good old Bowling Green, KY. If she's not at A Cup working, she's probably there studying and sipping on a Cold Brew. She strives to live each day to find her own adventure, so in her spare time she loves to go around and explore. Some of that exploring leads her to hike, bike, swim, read, and sit in trees. Shiv is currently studying Accounting and Finance along with international business and psychology minor at UK. She's also pretty good at dancing and will teach you a move or two should you ever ask.

Joe is originally from Danville, Kentucky, but has called Lexington home for the past six years. Already with a background (and love) in wine & beer, Joe quickly found a passion for all things coffee. He also holds the distinction of:  "Barista with the Most Nicknames"  – Joebro, Rathbone, Joseph Joe, and SoProJoeBro, just to name a few. He has been a part of the shop since the very first month and we love havin' him around. Sometimes, you can find him practicing his ninja moves in the kitchen and his Mortal Kombat training behind the bar.

Jeff has been in Kentucky all but a few short months of his life - raised in Berea, schooled in Richmond, and then eventually moving to Lexington, where he joined up with us. He enjoys talking politics, soccer, books, musicals, making awful jokes, and giving high fives. If he's not working, he might be writing, reading a book, watching soccer or doing anything involving words.

Evan grew up in Lexington, Ky. He was homeschooled from first grade through high school. He, respectfully, disagrees if you think he’s socially awkward because of it. When Evan isn’t slingin’ coffee he splits his time between playing guitar, cooking, and rock climbing.

Daniel was born in the scenic city of Chattanooga, TN and was raised on a farm just a few miles north of it. After high school, he decided to attend UK and work toward a degree in Accounting. When he's not at the shop perfecting his pour-overs or roasting coffee at Magic Beans, he's probably somewhere playing an instrument or hiking. Some people think that deep down he is an old man, due to his love for Jeopardy and corny jokes.

Joey was born and raised in a cornfield in Middle-of-Nowhere, Ohio, Joey packed his bags and moved to Kentucky to study anthropology at Eastern Kentucky University. When he's not working he's probably performing one person Broadway style shows from his car, going on adventures with fictional characters from his favorite books or enjoying/ obsessing over everything in the horror genre.
